Runescape Cooking Guide

Cooking can be a fun and interesting skill in RuneScape, since you can often cook several different types of food at the same level. There’s a variety of things you can do with this skill, but more importantly, it’s an essential skill to survival in the game.

There are 2 main kinds of food in the game. Foods that require ingredients to be mixed together such as bread, pizzas and pies tend to take more time to make. Fish on the other hand, only need to be fished for and then cooked over a stove or fire. Once you’ve decided on the food to make, you can follow the instructions on the Cooking Chart below.

Helpful Drinks

If you need a temporary boost to your Cooking level, then the chef’s Delight drink is exactly the drink for you. It can be Brewed, and this drink will increase your Cooking level by 1-5 points, depending on your Cooking level (a higher Cooking level means it will increase more). This drink is Members-Only.

Cooking Gauntlets

These helpful items are a reward from the Family Crest Quest, and will increase your chance of successfully cooking various types of fish.

Cooking Foods

Fish can usually be cooked on either a stove or fire, but most other foods must be cooked on a range. To cook a food, just use the item with a range or fire. From time to time you may burn the food you’re trying to cook, which makes it un-eatable. But, as you gain experience you will get better at cooking and burn less food.

Italicized items are Member’s Only. You can hover over words in blue for more info.

Other Cooking Info

The Moveable Cooking Spit

If you’re the type of RuneScaper that’s always on the run, and you’re looking for a way to cook your food wherever you are (whether in the middle of the jungle, or on the sidewalks of Varrock), the mobile Roasting Spit is just the tool for you.

Spits can be Smithed, and all you do is use it with either a piece of Rabbit Meat, or a Chompy Bird to skew it. Next, light a fire and use the skewed meat with it to set up a Rotisserie Cooker in just seconds!

Making Sinew for Crossbows

Due to how Crossbows are designed, they need a much stronger string than Flax can provide. So, you need to make some Sinew to string your Crossbow so that it can be used!

It’s actually very easy to make Sinew, and it only requires level 1 Cooking to do. Simply use a piece of Bear Meat (or Beef) with a Range, and choose to make it into Sinew rather than an edible piece of meat. And that’s it! You can then spin the newly created piece of Sinew on a Spinning Wheel to get a Crossbow String, and then attach it to your crossbow (u) to complete it.

Buying Your First House

To start off, you’ll want to purchase some land from a Real Estate Agent for 1,000gp. There are a few places where you can find these characters, including:

East of Varrock Castle

constructmap

East of the Furnace in Falador

constructmap2

Northeast of Seers’ Bank

constructmap3

Southwest of the market

constructmap4

Once you speak to him, ask him about getting your own house, and then buy one for 1,000gp. After paying, you’ll get a Construction Book, and you’ll now be able to enter your house. So, head on over to Rimmington - this is where your house is located. Eventually, you’ll be able to have it moved to another one of the available locations, but for now, you’ll be living in the town-where-not-much-happens.

Getting to Your House

Now, just north of Rimmington you should see a glowing purple portal. This is how you can enter your newly-bought land, build your house, and visit friends!

buil

When you click on it, you will see a list of all the options, similar to this:

options

From here, you can…

Go to Your House - brings you to your own house. In this mode, you cannot build any furniture, and this is how other players will see your house.

Go to Your House - brings you to your own house. In this mode, you cannot build any furniture, and this is how other players will see your house.

Go to Your House (Building Mode) - brings you to your house, and allows you to build furniture, rooms, and interact with the objects that make up your RuneScape home. You can’t edit your house any other way. Remember: if you’ve set a PIN for your bank, you’ll also need to enter it when going to your house in Building Mode.

Go to a Friend’s House - type in your friend’s name to enter his or her house! As long as they are in their house, not in “building mode,” and they are allowing other players to enter (this is explained in just a bit), you will be able to go to their house.

To leave a Player Owned house, just go back through the portal.

Teleporting to Your House

If you have level 40 Magic, you can cast the Teleport to House spell to be teleported directly to your house. This spell requires 1 Law, 1 Earth, and 1 Air Rune to cast.

“House Options” Menu

In Your Player Controls menu, you will see an option called “House Options.”

When you click on the menu button, you’ll see a new menu, allowing you to do several things with your house:

First, you have the building mode options, which allow you to toggle between building mode and regular mode. So, you can build your house in building mode, and then switch to normal mode to see what it will look like to your visitors.

Next, you have the option of expelling your guests, which means that you can kick everyone out if you want. This is particularly useful if you’re throwing a wild party while your parents are out of town, but they come home early (can you really have parents in RuneScape?)!

And last, you can leave your house.

House Access

If you don’t want others in your house, it’s fairly simple to keep them out. There are actually 2 ways to accomplish this:

By locking your portal.

By using your Friends List

Locking Your Portal:

This is pretty easy to do. While you’re inside your house area, right-click on your portal and select the “Lock Portal” option. This will prevent anyone from entering your house. Later on, you can select the “Unlock Portal” option to allow people to access it again.

Using Your Friends List:

This is a cool feature of Player Owned Houses too. If you have your friends list set to “On,” anyone can access your house. If you have it set to “Friends,” only people on your list can enter your house. And if you have it set to “Off,” no one can enter your house (this is just like locking your portal).

Important People

There are a few very important characters that you will probably need to visit at one point or another during your Construction career. Let’s take a look at each of them.

Real Estate Agent

This is the first person you’ll have to speak to before beginning to construct your house. These gentlemen can be found in several different places, and it doesn’t matter which one you speak to - they all do the same things.

1. He sells you your house, and land to start building on, for 1,000gp.

2. He has the ability to change the style of your home for a fee, depending on your Construction level:

Level 1 - Wooden House - 5,000gp

Level 10 - Stone (like Lumbridge) - 5,000gp

Level 20 - White Stone (like Al Kharid) - 7,500gp

Level 30 - Fremennik Wood (like Rellekka) - 10,000gp

Level 40 - Tropical Wood (like Ardougne/Karamja) - 15,000gp

Level 50 - Fancy Stone (like Falador) - 25,000gp

3. He can also move your house to other locations, but like the style changes, this requires a specific level and some cash:

Level 1 - Rimmington - 5,000gp

Level 10 - Taverley - 5,000gp

Level 20 - Pollnivneach - 7,500gp

Level 30 - Rellekka - 10,000gp

Level 40 - Brimhaven - 15,000gp

Level 50 - Yanille - 25,000gp

Sawmill Operator

Our next stop is at the Sawmill Operator, a kind fellow. The Sawmill Operator can be found a short distance south of the Varrock Lumber Yard, which was used in the Gertrude’s Cat Quest.

He has a shop, and will sell you various (basic) Construction items, such as nails, a saw and cloth.

Plus, he will make you some Planks if you give him some cash, and a set of logs. When you’re first starting out, you’ll probably want quite a few Planks and Nails, as well as a Saw, although you could also smith your own nails and save some money, especially if you have the metal bars on hand.

Stonemason

The Stonemason is a small dwarf, located in Keldagrim, south of the bar.

He sells more advanced building materials, such as Limestone Bricks, Marble, Gold Leaves and Magic Stone. But believe me, the last 3 are NOT cheap! If you’re just starting out, you won’t need these materials for awhile, but it’s always a good idea to know what you’re getting yourself into.

Herald (Sir Renitee)

This interesting old man found on the second floor of Falador Castle (eastern part) can sell you maps and portraits to mount on your wall, and he can change your crest. All of these things can be placed in your Quest Hall.

The fees for each of the things he can make are as follows:

Maps - 1,000gp

Portrait of King Arthur, Elena, King of Keldagrim, of the Miscellania Royalty - 1,000gp

Landscape of River Lum, Kharidian Desert, Morytania, Karamja or Isafdar - 2,000gp

Family Crest Assignment - 0gp

Family Crest Change - 5,000gp

Once you reach level 16 Construction, you will be able to get your family crest from Sir Renitee, and you will need this before being able to paint your own armor. To paint armor, you need either a Steel or Rune Full Helmet or Kite Shield. Both painted rune or Steel items will look the same, but the rune items’ stats will be better. You can also paint your crest on Banners.

These items can all be made in your Workshop, on the appropriate easel (either Shield Easels or Banner Easel). For most Crests, you will need to have completed a certain quest or be a certain level in a skill to be able to use it as your own.

Then you can mount it on a wall in your Skill Hall (requires a certain level) to show off to your guests.

Servants

There are several Servants that you can get in RuneScape, each one providing a different service than the others. They all serve a type of food, they welcome guests into your house, and they will take items back and forth from the bank for you.

To get a Servant, you should head to the Servant Guild (the Ardougne Domestic Service Agency), found north of the East Ardougne Market. Just speak to the Master Servant to learn more about them, and to get a servant of your own. A few things to know before hiring a servant:

You must pay a fee to hire a servant, and you must also pay him or her when he or she requests a wage.

A servant can be fired whenever you want.

Your house must have 2 bedrooms (one for you, and one for your servant) before being able to hire a servant.

If you want your servant to serve food, you need to have a dining room, plus the required furniture to make the food.

Construction-Boosting Items

There are a number of helpful Construction items available to you as well.

Stat-Boosting Tea

If, in your house, you take a kettle, boil it, add it to a teapot with tea leaves in it, then pour the tea into cups, you can get tea that increases your Construction level by 1-3 for a short amount of time.

1. Use kettle with sink.

2. Use kettle with range.

3. Use tea leaves with teapot.

4. Use kettle with teapot.

5. Use teapot with cups.

Depending on what type of shelf you have set up in your kitchen, the effect will be different. A normal shelf will give a +1 bonus, Oak Shelves give +2, and Teak gives +3.

Crystal Saw

The crystal saw is obtained after completing the Eyes Of Glouphrie Quest. It is used as a saw, and will provide you with a +3 bonus to Construction with furniture that is built with a saw only (provided that you have the required materials). This means that even though you have a +3 bonus, you cannot add rooms that are 3 levels ahead of your current level, and you cannot plant garden plants in your garden 3 levels ahead of yours (Gardens don’t require the use of saws!)

The Saw bonus will stack with the Homemade Tea and Evil Dave’s Stew of DOOM.

If you have done the Evil Dave part in Recipe For Disaster, you can make some stat boosting stew. One of the Spices will give you a construction bonus! Note that the bonus can be negative or positive (-6 minimum, +6 Maximum) and can stack with the other construction-boosting items.

Building Your House

Building Rooms

The great thing about Construction and Player Owned houses is that you can design your house any way you’d like. At first, you’re limited to very basic things, such as chairs and rugs. But you’ll eventually be able to build other kinds of rooms, furniture, and more interesting things to accommodate your house.

To build a room, you just right-click on one of the Door Hotspots in Building Mode and a menu such as this will appear:

If you have the appropriate level, and enough money, you can build another room. Each room has specific types of “Hotspots” - this is where you can build certain kinds of furniture. When you build furniture, the hotspot is “filled,” so you can’t build anything else there until you remove the furniture.

Building Furniture

Now that you know about rooms, it’s time to learn about how to build furniture.

To build some furniture, you need to enter your house in Building Mode (or switch to building mode from your options menu). If this is your first time building a house, you’ll probably want to start by building chairs in your Parlour. You’ll notice that while in Building Mode, that there are lots of white-ish areas on both the area around your house, as well as on the walls and floor of your house. As mentioned above, these are called hotspots, and this is where you build objects in your house:

All you do to build something, is right-click on one of the hotspots (for instance, a Chair Hotspot) and select the “Build” option:

You’ll see a screen of all the different items that can be built on that Hotspot.

Items that are crossed off can’t be built (you may need a higher level, or more supplies), while yellow ones can be built. Just select an item and your character will build it. And that’s all there is to it!

Note: Sometimes you will also bend a nail while building furniture, so you’ll probably want to have some extra ones with you while building.

Later on, if you wish to remove an item from your house, just right-click on it and select the “Remove” option.

Parlours

Furniture

The Parlour is the first room that your house consists of, and basically contains 3 chairs in front of a fireplace, which you can light with a set of logs and a tinderbox. You may have bookcases for holding quest books, and you can also hang up some curtains or set down a soft rug to walk on.

Workshops

Furniture

The WorkShop is a very useful area, allowing you to make furniture that can be packed away into your backpack for selling to other players (known as Flatpacking). You then just use the flatpacked item with a hotspot to place it there.

Ever wonder if there was any use for those broken armors or bent arrows? Well, you can repair them with your Workbench! Or, you could sharpen those Rusty Swords on a Whetstone… Or, you could set up an Armour Stand and repair your degrading Barrows Armor! There’s all sorts of fun to be had in the WorkShop!

Games Rooms

Furniture

This room contains all sorts of games for you and your friends to play!

Hoop and Stick - a Ranged game in which each player has 10 shots, and the player with the highest score wins.

Magic Balance - when the game starts, everyone who wants to play must cast a spell on the sphere. Depending on the color, you must cast the opposite spell on it to balance it out. Red=Fire, Blue=Water, Brown=Earth, White=Air.

Attacks Stones - 2 stones are set up, and 2 players attack them. The first one to destroy their stone wins.

Jester - Much like the Mime Random Event - whoever copies 10 emotes correctly is the winner!

Treasure Hunt - everyone in the game is given a Magic Stone by a Fairy, and then she hides. You must find her by feeling the stone. If it’s colder, she’s far away, and if it’s warmer, she’s closer.

Darts - Another Ranging game in which the players throw darts at a board. The first one to 10 points wins.

Hangman - You must find a word that has to do with RuneScape that fits with the puzzle by guessing letters. If you guess incorrectly too many times, the puppet is hung. You can also guess the word.

Archery Target - The third archery game, in which players shoot arrows at a target, and the first one to 10 points wins.

This is a great place for those magical RuneScapers out there. You can set up a Crystal Ball to change the element of a staff (an Air staff to a Water staff, for example). Or you could have a Lectern which allows you to craft spells. Sounds odd, no? Crafting a spell simply means that you make a magic stone which you can sell to other players so they can use the spell even if they’re not a high enough level.

The Altars

The below chart provides you the bonus percentage of prayer experience you will receive if you offer bones on your altar. If you light your torches in your altar room, and use bones on your altar, you will receive a greater percentage of experience depending on the number of lit burners. Note that, the better your burners, the highter your experience percentage bonus will be.

Prayer Experience bonuses

Altar Bonus Experience (No Burners) Bonus Experience (1 Burner) Bonus Experience (2 Burners)

Oak Normal 150% 200%

Teak 110% 160% 210%

Cloth 125% 175% 225%

Mahogany 150% 200% 250%

Limestone 175% 225% 275%

Marble 200% 250% 300%

Gilded 250% 300% 350%

Please note that the experience above is based on having the best burners lit. If you have burners of a lower level lit, you will receive less experience.

Portals

The main benefit of having your own portal is that you can you will have an infinite number of teleports, and anyone else can use it. In order to build a portal, you need a Teleport Focus, and a Portal Frame. Then it must be activated, which requires you to have a certain Magic level, 100 times as many Runes as a regular teleport cast would cost, and sometimes a quest requirement.

Portal Locations & Requirements

Location Requirements Runes

That’s pretty much all there is to Construction and Player Owned Houses, hopefully this guide helped you with this skill! Happy house-building!

Runescape Clan Wars Glitch Spots

A look at the glitch spots in the Runescape mini game “Clan Wars”.

Clan Wars is a mini game where two different clan chats can battle each other. When a challenge has been accepted, both clans have 2 minutes to enter a portal which will take them to the battlegrounds. One clan will start on the north end while one starts on the south end. After you are dead, you will be able to keep watching the war from a viewing area. When a clan has no one left to fight, then the other clan wins. On the map there are some spots where someone can stand without being seen, these are called the “glitch spots”. Players standing in these spots cannot be seen on the playing screen, but can be seen as a dot on the mini map. So far I have only found two spots.

Glitch Spots

North-West spot- this spot is located in the NW corner of the map.

South rock spot- this spot is located in a bunch of rocks on the south half of the map.

I don’t know if the spots were put there on purpose or not, but I hope they don’t take if away. The spots are a fun part of the mini game where players can hide and surprise other players. Sometimes clan will use these spots strategically to win over the other clan.

Conclusion

I hope you learned something from this and maybe you can try it out some time! If you found this interesting, please tell your friends to read this article. Thank you!

Runescape Attack Guide

By clicking on the crossed sword icon (shown in the below picture), you’ll be able to see which attack style you’re currently using, and you’ll be able to switch between the different styles. Each attack method is named differently depending on what weapon you are using. Usually, the order of attack styles is Accurate, Aggressive, Controlled, and Defensive. You can find out the exact name for each style by hovering your cursor over the button. The pictures of each style will also help you to determine how you want to attack.

You will also notice the Auto Retaliate button. Auto Retaliate basically tells your character what to do when you are attacked by another force. If you have this option on, then your character will instantly start fighting back. If this option is off, then your character will stand and do nothing, until you right click on the force and select the option to “Attack”.

When you select an attack type, you’ll gain experience in that combat skill when you cause damage to an enemy. You will always earn experience in Hitpoints. You can earn experience in attack, defense, strength, or all 3, depending on the style you use.

Accurate - hits more often; gives 4 exp to Attack per damage point.

Aggressive - stronger but slightly slower; gives 4 exp to Strength per damage point.

Defensive - increases the chance to block; gives 4 exp to Defense per damage point.

Controlled - a combination of all; gives 1.33 exp to Attack, Defense and Strength per damage point.

Attack Classes

If you select the body icon (in the above picture), you’ll see the equipment you are wearing. At the bottom of the body menu, you should find a button labeled “Show Equipment Stats”. Clicking that button will pop up a box showing what you’re wearing, an enlarged picture of yourself, and your stats. For now, we’ll only discuss the Attack Bonuses, but you’ll also see Defense Bonuses.

Attack Bonuses will give you more power with attacks of that type. So for instance, in the above picture there is an added +98 attack bonus for Slash attacks. This means that the Dragon Scimitar is a good Slashing Weapon. The higher the bonus, the better a weapon is when using that attack style.

Stab - a penetrating attack, common with Daggers. Effective against chainmail.

Slash - a very common “swiping” attack. Effective against light armor like robes or Dragonhide.

Crush - a common attack with Maces, Hammers and Mauls. It’s very effective against heavy armor like platemail.

Magic - often negated by armor and weapons, but can be increased with staffs. Allows you to hit harder with Magic.

Ranged - Often negated by full helmets and armor. It allows you to hit harder with ranged equipment.

Strength - This effects how hard you hit. Better metals will give higher strength bonuses.

Weapons

This section will describe the different weapons in RuneScape.

Daggers

The dagger is the most basic weapon in the game. In Tutorial Island you will be given a bronze one for free. A fast and versatile weapon, the dagger is most useful when poisoned. Its speed will give you an advantage over low defense monsters and players. It is one handed.

Types: Daggers come in all metal. (Bronze-Dragon)

Advantage: Speed and the ability to be poisoned.

Attack Styles:

Stab (Accurate)

Lunge (Aggressive)

Slash (Aggressive)

Block (Defensive)

Recommended Attack Style: Stab

Training Short Sword

In Lumbridge, you’ll come across an Attack Tutor, who will give you a free Training Short Sword. This item (like all other Training items) can’t be dropped or traded to other players.

Types: Training

Advantage: Speed

Attack Styles:

Stab (Accurate)

Lunge (Aggressive)

Slash (Aggressive)

Block (Defensive)

Claws

Claws are nearly the same as daggers, and they are just as fast as them. They cannot be poisoned. They are 2 Handed and Members only. You must complete the Death Plateau Quest to make them.

Types: Claws come in all metals except for dragon. (Bronze-Rune)

Advantage: Speed

Attack Styles:

Chop (Accurate)

Slash (Aggressive)

Lunge (Controlled)

Block (Defensive)

Recommended Attack Style: Slash

Short Swords

The short sword is a fast weapon mainly used for stabbing. They deal a little more damage than daggers, but they’re not quite as good as a Long Sword. Best to stick with Long Swords if you can afford them. 1 Handed.

Types: Short swords come in all metals except for dragon. (Bronze-Rune)

Advantage: Speed

Attack Styles:

Stab (Accurate)

Lunge (Aggressive)

Slash (Aggressive)

Block (Defensive)

Recommended Attack Style: Stab

Maces

The mace is a crushing weapon used mainly by monks or prayer beasts due to its slight prayer bonus. Rarely used because of it’s low max hit, which makes them relatively cheap. This weapon is good against platemail. It is one handed.

Types: Maces come in all metals. (Bronze-Dragon)

Advantage: Slight prayer bonus & good against platemail.

Attack Styles:

Pound (Accurate)

Pummel (Aggressive)

Spike (Controlled)

Block (Defensive)

Scimitars

The scimitar is a weapon most used throughout the F2P worlds. A good compromise between speed and strength the scimitar proves to be a very popular weapon with most players. This weapon will give you an advantage over low defense monsters and players. It is one handed.

Advantage: Fast speed & Moderate strength.

Attack Styles:

Chop (Accurate)

Slash (Aggressive)

Lunge (Controlled)

Block (Defensive)

Recommended Attack Style: Slash

Long Swords

Long swords are another popular weapon in the game. They too have a good compromise between speed and strength. A weapon popular with members the long sword is usually the choice of weapon to go in the wilderness while in a Members world. It is one handed.

Types: Long Swords come in all metals. (Bronze-Dragon)

Advantage: Moderate speed & Moderate strength.

Attack Styles:

Chop (Accurate)

Slash (Aggressive)

Lunge (Controlled)

Block (Defensive)

Recommended Attack Style: Chop

Spears

Spears are rarely used in the game. The spear is both slow and weak but has all styles of attack. It is members only and is 2 handed, except for the Bone Spear. They are the only weapon classes that can be poisoned with Karambwan Poison (KP).

Types: Spears come in all metals. (Bronze-Dragon)

Advantage: All attack styles.

Attack Styles:

Lunge (Controlled)

Swipe (Controlled)

Pound (Controlled)

Block (Controlled)

Recommended Attack Style: Lunge

Battle Axes

Battle axes are slow but strong. They are used commonly in the game and acts as way of dealing high damage without compromising your defense by removing your shield. They are good against high and low defense monsters and players

because of its attack styles. 1 Handed.

Types: Battle axes come in all metals. (Bronze-Dragon)

Advantage: High damage without compromising defense

Attack Styles:

Chop (Accurate)

Hack (Aggressive)

Smash (Aggressive)

Block (Defensive)

Recommended Attack Style: Smash on platemail, Hack on robes and dragon hide.

2-Handed Swords

Questionably the most powerful weapon in RuneScape, but not the most widely used. Due to their size, you must hold a 2 Handed sword with, yes, both hands, so you cannot use a shield. Despite this, the 2 Handed sword was considered

by most to be the “Best” weapon in RuneScape Classic, due to it’s general power. This changed when the newer RuneScape was launched, and the speed of the 2 handed sword became a problem. Always a good weapon to use when showing off your Maximum Hit, but now rather neglected otherwise.

Types: 2 handed swords come in all metals, from Bronze to Dragon.

Advantage: Very high damage.

Attack Styles:

Chop (Accurate)

Slash (Aggressive)

Smash (Aggressive)

Block (Defensive)

Recommended Attack Style: Any, against platemail.

Warhammers

These bulky weapons are newer to the runescape world. They boast a very high strength, but have quite a slow attack speed. Some think their power overcomes this disadvantage. 1 Handed.

Types: Warhammers come in all metal except for dragon. (Bronze-Rune)

Advantage: Very high damage.

Attack Styles:

Pound (Accurate)

Pummel (Aggressive)

Block (Defensive)

Recommended Attack Style: Any, against platemail.

Halberds

Slow but strong, the halberd is one of the more popular weapons. Despite it being slow many players use it as it has a great advantage of being able to attack two square distances away and even over some obstacles. They are Members-Only, hard to obtain and 2 Handed.

Types: Halberds come in all metals. (Bronze-Dragon)

Advantage: High damage, Attack from 2 Squares

Attack Styles:

Jab (Controlled)

Swipe (Aggressive)

Fend (Defensive)

Block (Defensive)

Recommended Attack Style: Swipe

Hatchets

Hatchets are fast but weak, as they are made for Woodcutting. They have lower bonuses than regular items or the sort. 1 Handed.

Types: Hatchets come in all metals. (Bronze-Dragon)

Advantage: High Speed, Cuts wood

Attack Styles:

Chop (Accurate)

Hack (Aggressive)

Smash (Aggressive)

Block (Defensive)

Recommended Attack Style: Chop

Staffs

Not very fast, and not really made for melee combat, these provide users additional magical focusing for attacking. You can set attacking spells to autocast, and some allow you to use some spells that you cannot use without the appropriate staff. More about staffs can be found in the Magic Guide.

Types: Plain, All elementals, Battlestaffs, Mystical Staffs, God Staffs, Slayer Staff

Advantage: Autocasting Spells, Elemental staffs stops you from wasting runes of a kind.

Attack Styles:

Bash(Accurate)

Pound (Aggressive)

Focus - Block (Defensive)

Attack With - (Choose Spell)

Recommended Attack Style: Attack With Spell

Also, the best style while casting an offensive spell and at the same time carry a staff with you is to choose focus-block, as it gives exp to defense as well. So in whole, you will receive magic, hitpoints and defense exp altogether.

Runescape Agility Guide

Agility can be a fun skill to train, and it comes in very useful throughout the game. Certain areas around RuneScape require you to have an Agility level higher than 1, and many of the more difficult quests, as well as some easy ones, require you to have a certain Agility level to complete them. One of the most important reasons to get experience in Agility is the fact that this skill is closely related to Running.

Running & Energy

Your Agility level will influence how long you’ll be able to Run. The higher your Agility level, the faster your Energy will increase, therefore allowing you to run for longer periods of time. Your weight also affects your run energy, and the more weight you’re carrying, the faster your energy will decrease.

To see your current run energy, select the wrench icon near the bottom-right of the game screen. The menu that shows up next contains the game options, and the icon in the bottom row which looks like a person running will tell you how much energy you have left.

Failing Obstacles

In the higher level Agility course it is possible to fail obstacles. If you do fail an obstacle then you will get hit damage. The amount of damage that you get hit changes depending on which obstacle you failed and your Hitpoints at the time of failing. If you fail, you don’t gain any experience, but you can still get the full course experience if you redo the obstacle that you failed. If you don’t retry the obstacle, or if you skip one, you won’t gain the full course xp.

Restoring Your Energy

There are a number of ways to restore your energy:

White Tree Fruit - When eaten, this fruit replenishes 8% of your energy. Can be picked from the White Tree after completing Garden of Tranquility.

Summer Pie - When eaten, restores 10% of your energy and temporarily increases your Agility level by 5. Can be cooked.

Energy Potion - Restores 10% of your energy (per dose) when drank. Made with your Herblore skill.

Super Energy Potion - Restores 20% of your energy (per dose) when drank. Made with your Herblore skill.

Strange Fruit - When eaten, this odd fruit restores 30% of your energy. Obtained from the Strange Plant Random Event.

Goutweed Tuber - Restores 50% of your energy when eaten. Obtained from the Tai Bwo Wannai Cleanup mini-game.

Gnome Agility Course

When you first start training Agility, it’s highly recommended that you begin at the Tree Gnome Stronghold Agility course. The stronghold is located north-west of Ardougne. It’s by far the easiest way to quickly gain experience, as there is no chance of failing and getting hurt.

For a completed lap around the course, you’ll receive a total of 86.5 Agility experience, but you must do all of the obstacles in order. First cross the Log, run forward and climb the Net. Climb up the Tree Branch, balance on the Rope and climb down the tree. Now run forward and climb over the net, climb through the Pipes and start over.

Skullball

Once you reach level 25 Agility, you’ll be able to play Skullball! You must have also completed the Creature of Fenkenstrain Quest and be wearing a Ring of Charos. The course is found near Canifis, southeast of Mazchna the Slayer Master. You should find a Werewolf in a small hut in the swamp; speak to him and climb down the ladder to enter the Werewolf area.

Speak to the Skullball Boss to start a game of Skullball. It’s a kind of progressive soccer, except for the fact that your ball is actually a Skull. The faster you shoot the Skull through each of the 10 different goals, the more experience you’ll gain. There are 3 options that you can use when playing:

1. Tap - Moves the Skullball 1 square ahead.

2. Kick - Moves the Skullball 4 squares ahead.

3. Shoot - Moves the Skullball 10 squares ahead.

You can gain 750 or more xp if you complete the game in under 4 minutes. After that, for ever 3 seconds over 4 minutes, you’ll lose about 7-8xp.

Agility Pyramid

The Agility Pyramid, located in the Kharidian Desert is another good place to train your Agility, while trying to reach an artifact that you can trade in for a reward. You need to have 30 Agility or better to train here. So if you’re interested in training here, or if you’re just curious, put on some Desert Robes, fill up some waterskins and head on over to check it out!

There are 5 levels to the pyramid, each containing traps which you must use your agility skill to avoid. These traps are as follows:

Cross Ledge 20

Plank 22

Jump Gap 22

Although it may not immediately look like this course is really worth it, you should be happy to know that you’ll receive a 700xp bonus at the end, for a total of 1,112 experience!

If you fail an obstacle, you’ll fall to the lower level (so if you were on the third level, you’ll fall to the second).

At the top of the pyramid you’ll find a gold pyramid. Take this, and bring it to Simon Templeton who can be found just outside of the pyramid. He will buy it from you for 1,000gp–not a bad deal!

For specific information on this Agility course, please visit the Agility Pyramid Guide.

Penguin Agility Course

After completing the Cold War Quest, you’ll have access to the Penguin Agility Course which requires 30 Agility and a Penguin Suit disguise.

The Penguin Agility Course is located on the Iceberg north of the Penguin Outpost. To get here, head to Rellekka, either by walking, or by using your Enchanted Lyre teleport. Take the boat from Rellekka to the Iceberg, and then head to the avalanche to the northwest. The the west is a room; follow the corridor to the Penguin Agility Course.

After reaching level 35 Agility, you’ll have the ability to enter the Barbarian Outpost training area located northeast of the Tree Gnome Stronghold. But before entering, you’ll need to complete the Alfred Grimhand Barcrawl. Once you complete it, you can enter the area, climb through the Pipe and begin to train your Agility!

For fully completing the course, you’ll receive 117xp, along with a 46.2xp bonus, for a total of 163.2 Agility experience. Be warned however, that the obstacles can be failed and you’ll take damage, so it’s a good idea to bring some food with you. Should you fail an obstacle, make sure to try it again so that you can receive the full amount of experience.

First, swing on the Rope Swing and then cross the log. Climb up the Net, cross the Ledge and climb over the 3 Low Walls.

Brimhaven Agility Arena

The Agility Arena located in Brimhaven is a great place to train once you have level 40 Agility. It’s a big place, and you’ll get lots of experience. To some, the Agility Arena is a fun way to train, while it’s boring to others. Remember, the arena is supposed to be challenging and you’re likely to take quite a bit of damage here.

You’ll want to bring several things, including Boots of Lightness, about 1,000gp, Cakes, and teleportation items (Runes, amulets). The reason for bringing Cakes rather than something like Lobsters is the fact that the more hitpoints you have, the more damage you’ll take. Staying under 20 hits will only cause the obstacles to hit you for 2 points.

Once you have everything, talk to Cap’n Izzy No Beard located in a house north of the entrance to Brimhaven on Karamja Island. Pay him 200gp to enter, and then climb down the ladder into the arena.

Gaining Tickets

Once you’re inside, you should see a flashing arrow on your map. It points in the direction of the Ticket dispenser that you must tag for a ticket. Quickly swing, walk and climb your way over the obstacles and tag a dispenser. The first time, you won’t get a ticket, but you’ll see that the counter in the top of your screen has turned green. Tagging the next dispenser will get you a ticket. If you miss, it will turn red and you’ll need to start over. You have about 30-60 seconds to tag the dispenser.

For a more detailed explanation, be sure to check out the Brimhaven Agility Arena Guide.

The Obstacles

There are lots of obstacles to pass in the Agility Arena. Some require Agility levels of 1, while others require you to have 20 or 40.

Wilderness Agility Course

The training course is located in the northwest part of the deep Wilderness around levels 50-55. It’s one of the most dangerous places for Agility, as you can be PKed while training! It is suggested that you take:

A Knife or Sword for cutting the Webs, upon taking the Ardougne house teleport. If you take a weapon along with no other valuable items then if you get attacked then you will have the ability to try to protect yourself.

Decent food.

Boots of Lightness

Do not bring armor!

Do not bring teleport Runes or expensive stuff; there’s no quick way out!

Be warned, if you fall, you’ll lose a big percentage of your hitpoints, and downstairs there are some aggressive Skeletons as well. So good food is recommended, and if you need to get some more, go to the Mage Arena bank. Be careful, there are level 22 Skeletons throughout the course!

Werewolf Fetch Game

This is the ultimate Agility challenge! You need at least 60 Agility to play (as well as a Ring of Charos), and you can find it just west of the Skullball arena. It’s very difficult, and it’s also timer-based like Skullball. The object of the game is to get the stick that the Agility Trainer throws and bring it back to him to get an experience reward.

First, jump across each of the Stepping Stones over the water. Then jump over the 3 Hurdles, climb through the Tunnel, climb over the Skull Slope and slide down the Death Slide/Zip Line.

Warning: Do not have any type of head gear equipped when you attempt to do this course, because you’ll need to use your teeth to slide down the Zip Line at the end.

For accomplishing this feat, you can receive 540xp. It’s helpful if you don’t carry much weight while doing this course.

Yanille Agility Dungeon

North of Yanille is a small shack with some Webs blocking the entrance. Slash them with a sharp weapon and you’ll be able to enter the Agility Dungeon, mainly used for Herblore and Combat training. At the entrance are some Giant Bats, and a Balancing Ledge. Cross it and you’ll find some Chaos Druids for Herblore training. Don’t use the Prayer Altar unless you want to fall into a pit of Poison Spiders!

Past the Druids are some Monkey Bars, which lead to another room with more Chaos Druids. The door to the south leads to the Yanille Bank, but it requires level 82 Thieving to open. Continuing east and down the stairs, you’ll find Salarin the Twisted. He can only be killed with Strike spells, and he sometimes drops a Sinister Key. This allows you to open the Sinister Chest past the Pipe that contains various Herbs including Torstol.
